Our Alewives Hat was first introduced in Waxahachie, Texas at Scarborough Renaissance Festival during the 2019 season. This hat is period to the Renaissance era, and was worn by women ale brewers. It is said that male brewers were not happy about the competition, and accused the women of selling a tainted brew, calling them witches.
Debra redesigned this hat giving the brim a fedora curve, and swept the pointed crown to the back, giving it more flare.
This cheeky wee besom hat design was a huge hit at the Maryland Ren Fest, where customers found dozens of color combinations that matched their existing costuming!
This hat is built with a elastic cord which stretches comfortably behind the head keeping the hat firmly on, even in the strongest of wind.
Each hat comes with a removable/repositionable feather hat pin embellished with wooden acorns and oak leaves made of felt and leather.
