For 30 seasons Dragon Wings costume accessories and feather finery have been displayed, tried on, and purchased at seasonal Renaissance Festival shoppes around the nation.
In 2020, we were scheduled for 25 weekends of sales, but the season ended abruptly when the Arizona Ren Fest closed after weekend 6 in mid March.
After some time, Scarborough Faire, in Texas, and the Maryland Renaissance Festival announced cancellations as well.
In 2021 the Arizona Ren Fest was unable to open, but Scarborough Faire in Waxahachie, TX will be giving it a go!
Our feather shop at Scarby is scheduled to open on weekends April 10 through May 31.
We are also hoping to be able to open our Maryland booth for 9 weekends this coming Aug through Oct!
The information below will give you an overview of the Ren Fests where we have shoppes.
Imagine a small 16th century village in England where the King has come to visit and all the folk for miles around have turned out to celebrate.
It's like a medieval State Fair with jousting, dancing, stage comedy, Shakespeare, axe throwing, musicians, artists, and more. Ren Fests are also a tremendous place to shop for unique arts and custom clothing. These juried art shows feature some of the most talented craftspeople we've encountered!
Most Renaissance Festivals operate on weekends (and some Monday holidays) only, and typically run for three to eight consecutive weeks.
Our Maryland Renaissance Festival Shop - Weekends Aug 28 to Oct 24
We are looking forward to 9 consecutive weekends of incredibleness in 2021!
There's undeniably something magical about the Maryland Renaissance Festival.
Several factors include time of year (summer ending, holidays coming), location (a beautiful wooded village near Annapolis, Baltimore, and D.C.), the incredible variety of quality entertainment and the participation of thousands of costumed patrons, the ever-growing fan base (we encounter excited new patrons weekly), and the enduring efforts of Fest management to improve the experience each year for both attendees and participants.
Easily found near the front gate, Dragon Wings booth is the fourth building on the left.
Debra Hathaway opened her first Renaissance Festival artisan booth in 1991 at the Maryland Ren Fest. At that time Dragon Wings was located on the boardwalk in the newly expanded back area of the Festival. A tremendous opportunity led to relocating to a shop near the front gate and in 1995 the original small structure was incorporated into the much larger shake shingle roofed building you see today.
You can see more about the Maryland Renaissance Festival at their website
Our shop at the Arizona Renaissance Festival (above) was scheduled for 8 weekends Feb 6 through April 4 in 2021, but was unable to open due to COVID. We look forward to seeing everyone in February of 2022!
Arizona is another magical Festival site to visit! Established over 30 years ago, the mature trees, grass and gardens of this Renaissance village are in stark contrast to the towering Saguaro cactus and other desert surroundings.
This Ren Fest is loaded with stage talent and unique artisans.
We have been participating since 1992 and relocated in 2010 to our current location, booth #208, located on the left side of the path leading to the Joust Arena. When you are adjacent the "Rialto Stage" look for our tiny castle across the way with large sign reading "Feather Finery and Costume Accessories" and our colorful displays of feather headwear, fans, parasols, angel wings, and hats.
If you reach the Joust Kitchens food area you have just passed our shop, we are on their left.

Our Scarborough Faire, Waxahachie, Texas Shop will be open weekends April 10 to May 31 in 2021.
You will be amazed with the variety of feathered headwear that Debra has created in the past year! Several new hat designs will make their debut this April, including the Bongrace sunbonnet, the lightweight stylish Chaucer Hat for men and ladies, and the playful new Jackamo Hat.
Lovely springtime weather in Texas brings fun, fun, fun at Scarborough Faire Ren Fest near Dallas/Fort Worth.
Dragon Wings is booth #192 in the Pecan Grove near the Jousting, across from the Pasta Palace, and the Queen's Kitchen.
From the Festival main entrance you would follow the path to the right, passing the bakery and crossing a bridge into the Pecan Grove.
Continuing straight you will soon be captivated by the aromas of amazing Pasta and German foods, at this point you should be standing directly in front of our shoppe!
If you arrive at the Jousting arena without having spotted our shop, trying turning around and looking to your left.
We're hiding behind a pecan tree.

In 1994 Dragon Wings purchased the interesting structure above from potter John Fullwood. The booth was built by chainsaw artists Big T, Hobart, and others many years ago. It still features two small wood carvings by Hobart.
